Simple Pleasure -Stop and Smell the Grass

How Often Do You Delay Simple Pleasure in Life?

It always amuses me how excited my dogs get when I open up the cupboard, where their leads are kept. They start jumping around and getting so excited that they are going for a walk. And even more, once I put the leads on, they cut laps of the lounge room and can’t wait to get out of the front door. Despite the fact that they have walked the same path hundreds of times, they get so much pleasure from every single walk. It’s like they have never seen that tree, the letterbox, or the blade of grass before. So, they sniff, look and explore like it is a totally new experience. Read more

Bike Ride For Charity in Thailand – Crossing the Finish Line

Bike Ride for Charity – Completing the 500 km Ride

We completed the bike ride for charity with a bang! The last day was ONLY 73km before we got to the Home Hug orphanage. It felt like a mere walk in the park on a sunny day compared to the other long, gruelling rides in sweltering blistering heat, pouring rain, or cold and spine chilling weather. It is all so relative! Homocysteine Unveiled!

What is Homocysteine?

Homocysteine is an amino acid that inflicts damage to the inner arterial lining (endothelium) and other cells of the body. “Homocysteine reflects the health of your genes,” say renowned nutritionist Patrick Holford and Dr. James Braly in their 2003 publication “The H Factor.” “Your H score is more important than your weight, your blood pressure or your cholesterol level. It is your most vital, preventable and reversible health statistic.” And, “Your Homocysteine level is a more accurate predictor than cholesterol that poses our risk of heart attack or stroke.” Read more

Bike Riding Injuries Turned Beneficial? – Day 3

Bike Riding Injuries Didn’t Stop Me

Today there were some hills, sandy rough roads and headwinds to contend with.

Since my fall on the first day, I have had to nurse my bike riding injuries. I had an injured wrist, which has put pressure on the left side of my body as I have unconsciously tried to compensate to avoid pressure on my wrist during the rough rocky long tracks. My left knee subsequently is now painful to push down on the pedal forward and my shoulders and neck have been as tense and tight as a board. But, my faith is getting stronger that there’s hidden benefit to this.  Read more

Charity Bike Ride in Thailand – Surviving the First 103 km.

The Inspiration Behind Thailand Charity Bike Ride

After arriving into our hotel yesterday, we got fitted out with our appropriate bikes and riding gear for the charity bike ride.

This morning, I saw 30 intrepid business owners from all walks of life preparing ourselves for the adventure at the crack of dawn. It is so inspiring to be with such a great group of amazing people who are dedicated to the same cause, taking precious time out of their business, their family and lives to raise funds and do the ride together. The founder of Hands Across the Water Charity, Peter Baines, delivered a very inspiring heartfelt message (via a messenger as he could not be here this time) confirming the reason WHY we are all on this journey, Read more

emotional health emotions

Who is Really In Charge? You or Your Emotions?

How is your emotional health? Are you aware and do you remember everything you did yesterday? Who is running your life most of the time? How do you deal with stress? Well, if you’re like most people you probably remember some things but not all of them.

Why? Because most of the things we do in life come from habits and we just do them unconsciously. Take driving for example, most of us hop in the car, turn on the ignition and here we go. We do a lot of things on the background to be able to drive but we don’t pay attention to them. However, one thing you’ll remember is that if someone is tailgating you, for sure you’ll remember that. Why? Because you’ll have attached an emotion to that situation. Read more
