Candida affects thirty-three percent (33%) of the total Australian population.
However, it remains overlooked by many health practitioners and often mistaken for other disease. The ones who were diagnosed struggle to get better. A majority of these Candida treatment failures are associated with a wrong diet. Yes, most candida sufferers are eating the wrong foods!
What Is Candida Infection?
Candidiasis, or Candida, refers to an unhealthy overgrowth of the yeast (Candida albicans) within the body. Candida albicans is a naturally occurring yeast that is present in everyone.
In healthy people, however, it is kept under control by the immune system and confined only to the lower intestine, the skin, and in women’s vagina. To a large degree, this confinement process is due to healthy and essential bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract, such as acidophilus and bifidobacteria.
When the population of healthy bacteria is disrupted, when taking antibiotics for example, Candida albicans starts to spread into other areas of the body once it is allowed to pass unchecked through the intestinal walls into the bloodstream. When this happens, Candida albicans begins to mutate into an unhealthy fungus that can infect a body’s tissues and organs.
The spread of Candida albicans into areas of the body where it does not belong is termed candidiasis, or Candida.
Why is Candida a Major Health Concern in Australia?
An estimated 33 percent of all Australians are affected by Candida and the numbers are growing.
The disease nonetheless remains overlooked by many health practitioners. To make matters worse, its various symptoms can easily be mistaken for other disease conditions. Some physical symptoms of Candida include:
– Both airborne and food allergies
– Anxiety and depression
– Chronic fatigue
– Confusion and/or memory problems
– Gastrointestinal problems (such as bloating, cramping constipation, diarrhoea, flatulence and heartburn)
– Headache and migraine
– Irritability and mood swings
– Loss of libido
– Oral and/or vaginal thrush
– Skin problems (acne, rashes, scaly skin)
– Sleeping problems
– Respiratory problems (asthma, coughing, hay fever, lung and/or nasal congestion, sinusitis, wheezing)
We recommend you consult one of our physicians at our Brisbane or Gold Coast clinics to treat your symptoms and prevent recurrence.
Natural treatments for Candida can be very effective and longer lasting than the typical and conventional treatments. In common cases of immune deficiency, Candida albicans can cause infection-fighting cells, such as T cells, to be destroyed, creating an environment for opportunistic infections.
For these reasons, our practitioners consider Candida as a potentially serious health threat and do all they can to ensure it is properly dealt with. One of the best ways to manage and clear up Candida infection is dietary modification. It is not just about what you should eat, but pay particular attention to the foods that you should avoid eating when you are in Candida Cleansing. These foods can surely get your Candida treatment plan busted.
15 Foods You Should Not Be Eating When You Have a Candida Infection
The standard western diet is a significant cause of Candida. In addition to foods high in simple sugars and refined carbohydrates, foods that contain moulds such as breads, cheese and peanuts, can all feed Candida albicans and help it spread.
Inorganic, pasteurized & homogenized milk and other dairy products can contribute to the problem of yeast overgrowth too. This is because of both the lactose they contain and the tendency towards food allergies dairy processed in this way invites. Lactose is yet another simple sugar that Candida albicans thrives upon. Non-organic dairy products also commonly contain traces of antibiotics.
Overall, the primary dietary factor contributing to Candida is a high sugar diet, followed by a diet that consists predominantly of foods that cause high acidity in the body.
Like most other harmful organisms, Candida albicans cannot live for long in an internal environment that is rich in oxygen. By contrast, an acidic environment in the body reduces the oxygen supply, making it much easier for yeasts and other pathogens to invade cells, tissues, and organs.
