For starters, a virus like the Sars-CoV-2 needs cells to reproduce. People ingest the new virus through the nose, mouth or mucous membranes. Once in the body, they can cause an infection named Covid-19 or coronavirus disease. In general, the virus is very contagious.
It is also evident the coronavirus is far more dangerous for the elderly. To give you an example, the recent strong outbreak in North Italy showed a mortality rate of 4%, which is higher than in South Korea. The reason for this surprisingly high percentage is that around 30% of the age population in North Italy is older than 65.
The following facts may also surprise you – so far, less than 10% of all infected individuals showed complications. And most of them were older than 65 and had pre-existing conditions. The average age of all coronavirus related death cases so far is 80.
I don’t want to overwhelm you with statistics, however, the best way to counter this current mass hysteria spread by the media is presenting clear facts.
Let me just recap here. The coronavirus is highly contagious, but it is evident that the progression of symptoms depends on many factors such as age group, pre-disposition of a disease, weak immune system and stress levels.
6 Ways to Boost Your Immune System
1. Apply Common Sense
The best treatment is prevention. Cultivating a strong immune system before illness attacks is the best way to go. As most viral illnesses that cause outbreaks are airborne, make sure you avoid crowded and closed places. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom. When you are in public places, avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
2. Stay Calm and Relaxed
Don’t pay too much attention to mainstream media as their profits feed on easy clickbait headlines spreading fears and bad news. We all know stress weakens your immune system. Practice meditation and deep relaxed breathing. Mindful practices such as Qigong, TaiChi or Yoga are great to balance and strengthen your energies and immune system. In the end, laugh more, and worry less.
3. Remove Existing Roadblocks to Health
