THE MISSING KEY TO SKULL ALIGNMENT
THE AMAZING SPHENOID BONE COMPLEX – THE MISSING KEY TO SKULL ALIGNMENT
When a ship or plane experiences difficulty, it sends out an S.O.S. to tell their base – ‘I Need Help Now’.
Perhaps your headaches, dizziness, jaw pain or balance problems make you want to send out an S.O.S. If so, we hear you!!!
It’s these and other symptoms that can result from a misaligned Sphenoid Bone Complex – and that’s why we at BGH realign it as part of our amazing Atlas-Sphenoid Realignment Treatment program.
To help you understand why it’s so important to ensure your Sphenoid is sitting in the right position, let’s learn a little about this important bony structure of the skull…
What is the Sphenoid?
The Sphenoid (known as the ‘central bone’) is the most complex bone of the whole human body. It is shaped like a butterfly and forms part of your skull. If you took your head off your neck and turned it upside down, you’d see your Sphenoid sitting in the centre – looking a lot like a butterfly – with a large and a small set of ‘wings’.
What does the Sphenoid do?
The Sphenoid is so important because it is responsible for balancing the entire skull (which weighs about the same as a large bowling ball!). It is related in some way to all 14 bones of the skull. In addition, it is directly involved in protecting important organs such as the pituitary gland, and essential nerves and arteries that feed the brain and the eyes. It is also important to the sinuses and nasal cavity. Because of its location, the Sphenoid can affect the pituitary gland, the hypothalamus, the nervous system, the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and blood flow to and from the brain. The sphenoid cradles your brain and helps the whole spinal cord and brain to be bathed in new spinal fluid. So, your Sphenoid is very, very important.
Why does it become misaligned?
Birth issues are a common cause of Sphenoidal Misalignment. You see, when you’re born, the bones of your skull are soft and not yet fused (glued) together properly. This allows your head to pass through your mother’s birth canal when you’re born. But, during this traumatic process, these soft but important bones of the skull (like your Sphenoid) don’t always relocate themselves back into the best position. This is a primary cause of Sphenoidal Misalignment. Other causes include contact sports, accidents, head injuries and – believe it or not – stress…
What happens when the Sphenoid is misaligned?
When your Sphenoid is misaligned, it causes the other bones in your skull to be affected. To compensate for this problem, the skull, the muscles in your face and head, as well as your neck, spine and associated muscle groups adjust themselves. This creates muscular and skeletal stress as the body tries to compensate for the misaligned Sphenoid. Over time, blood and nerve flow are affected. This can impact not only on the muscles of the face, neck and back causing pain such as soreness and aching – it can also cause headaches, dizziness and nausea. Over long periods of time, the nerves running from the spine to your organs become affected and disease can set in. This is really problematic.
What problems are caused by a misaligned Sphenoid?
Here are some problems associated with a misaligned Sphenoid Bone Complex:
- Headaches and Migraines
- Sinus problems
- Head, neck and back pain
- Eye coordination problems
- Temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ)
- Symptoms of impaired brain function including memory loss, dyslexia, inability to concentrate, brain fog
- Reading problems
How do you fix a misaligned Sphenoid?
To realign the Sphenoid, we use a special and powerful technique known as the Sphenoid Osseous Shift (or SOS for short). It is designed to simply and effectively re-establish the Sphenoid into its proper position. When this happens, the skull sits properly on the neck and the brain is cradled effectively. Nerves, arteries, veins and organs such as your eyes and brain all start working better. This leads to improved overall health – and importantly – it contributes to a more balanced skeleton. Coupled with the Atlas Realignment, the SOS ensures that you have the very best skull, neck and spinal alignment.
How is the SOS performed?
As you know by now, the Sphenoid is located at the base of your skull and can’t be accessed by massage or tools. But there is another way that effectively realigns it. By gently and specifically moving the Mastoid and Condyle Bones and by using universal energy (Chi), the patient’s consciousness is lifted from the lower level to the higher brain – and this allows the body to quickly realign the Sphenoid resulting in balance within the skull. It’s important to do the SOS before the Atlas Realignment, as once the skull is balanced properly, the Atlas can be adjusted so that the skull, neck and spine are all in optimal alignment. This is where true health can be maximised.
How will I feel once my Sphenoid has been realigned?
Some people feel no immediate change – but they notice subtle differences over time. Others experience immediate and noticeable effects – usually – the more misaligned your Sphenoid, the more you’ll notice the differences. The most common change people report is that they now breathe more easily – this is because the Sphenoid is directly related to the sinuses and nasal passages. Additional differences include a greater sense of balance, clearer sight and less brain fog. It’s important to note that change is cumulative – the benefits of the SOS continue for days, weeks and months after the initial adjustment.
Usually, you require only one treatment to realign your Sphenoid…
If you play contact sport, are involved in a vehicle accident or have a fall, it’s important to get your Atlas and Sphenoid checked for alignment.
Dr Price, internationally acclaimed Integrative Doctor and Naturopath uses the Sphenoid Osseous Shift (SOS) daily in her Australian BGH Medical Clinic. When asked why she uses SOS so often, Dr Price says, ‘I personally think that the Atlas Realignment and SOS work so well together because they’re the two most important bones for structural alignment in the body’.
